5 Centimeters per Second (2007)

Director: Makoto Shinkai
Story about:
This movie really speaks to the soul about people and therefore the inevitability of life. it is a really pretty movie were and therefore the director explains everything within the first minute. Cherry blossom leaves fall 5 centimeters per second.

sometimes these leaves are stuck together once they fall but eventually, they break apart and go their separate ways before hitting the bottom. That person you meet and fall crazy sometimes never leaves you. Getting over that old flame is such a difficult thing to try to and this movie shows the pain that somebody feels when conflicted with trying to maneuver on from that love but never really succeeding. That person shuts out people that "see them" and it really spoke to the guts on numerous subtle levels. The ending may be a little weird, but I saw it as more of an open-ended dream sequence where the most character has finally grown. I even have literally been within the shoes of the most character and after watching this movie I assumed tons about my life and therefore the folks that "saw" me, but I never paid attention to it because I used to be trapped brooding about someone I could never have.

Flavors of Youth

Director: Yoshitaka Takeuchi, Jiaoshou Yi Xiaoxing, Haoling Li
Story About:
Three stories of youth from different cities in China: memories locked in a bowl of steaming noodles, a fading beauty discovering her way, and bittersweet first love.

This is the precise quiet film one must see if he/she wants to flee fantasy and magic. Lately, we see numerous anime films involving supernatural, phenomenal elements which I absolutely love...But I also wanted to ascertain something realistic and worldly as how long are you able to be an escapist within the world of harsh realities?...." Flavors of youth" shows us three different stories connected with an equivalent message...There is regret, recollection, redemption, loss, love, and in particular hope and strength. Hope for a far better future even when things are going bad...and surely there are good days to return within the future. The animation is gorgeous beyond words, especially the tasty foods The stories told are something we will relate to and understand deeply...Such simple yet moving plots are definitely necessary for understanding our youth. Definitely watch this if you've got watched too many sci-fi or fantasy movies till now...It is important to know the real world too.
